Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Sri Lanka

You will be welcomed by our representative who will take you to a hotel in Negombo where you can relax rest of the day.

Day 2-3: Sacred city of Anuradhapura

After breakfast you will start your journey towards Anuradhapura. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and its ruins are one of South Asia’s most evocative sights.

During your stay you will explore the ancient sites of Anuradhapura and Mihintale.

Day 4: Off to Jaffna

Today you will be travelling to the very north of the country: Jaffna. You will visit the most important Hindu temple in the Jaffna district: Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil. You can also visit the library, Jaffna museum and the 17th century Dutch Fort.

Don’t forget to enjoy an authentic Jaffna crab curry – a signature dish you do not want to miss.

Day 5: Exploring the two islands

After breakfast you will be travelling by boat to Nainativu Island to visit the famous Nagadeepa temple.

Afterwards you will visit the remote island of Delft where you can witness a large and significant Banyan Tree covering about ten perches of land, the Pigeon Cote made out of coral stone, the Growing Stone which is an upright limestone coral and the Giant Footprint which is wrapped in myth and legend.

Day 6: Visiting Keerimalai

Today you will be visiting the natural hot water spring and Hindu temple in Keerimalai. You will also visit the Port of Dambakolapatuna on your way back to Jaffna.

Day 7: Along the East Coast

Your next stop will be at Point Pedro. From there you will travel to Trincomalee well known for its deep water natural harbour. Relax for the day.

Day 8: Getting around Trincomalee

You will start the day by visiting the Old Portuguese Fort. Next you will visit the Koneswaram Kovil which sits on top of a gigantic cliff known as Swami Rock, facing the Bay of Bengal and the eastern coast of India. You will also witness Lover’s Leap, an iconic geographic feature of Koneswaram Kovil.

Day 9: Pigeon Island

Today you can enjoy snorkelling and diving in Pigeon Island Maritime National Park which is one of the two maritime national parks in Sri Lanka.

Day 10: Exploring Polonnaruwa & Minneriya National Park

After breakfast you will travel to one of Sri Lanka’s ancient cities: Polonnaruwa. It was the second capital of Sri Lanka. During your visit, you will see the Gal Vihara Rock Sculptures and the three giant stones sculptures of the Buddha that were  carved in granite by an unknown sculptor in the 12th century. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

After lunch you will go on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park where you will see its large herds of elephants. Make sure to take your camera with you because it is a sight you do not want to miss. After a day of culture and wildlife, you will head back to the hotel.

Day 11: Visiting the famous Sigiriya Rock

After breakfast you will start your journey towards Sigiriya.  Once you arrive in Sigiriya you can freshen up before visiting the famous Sigiriya Rock, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, a 370-meter granite rock with a magnificent palace that was built around 475 AD. Once you reach the plateau you are faced with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Day 12: Negombo

Today you will head back towards Negombo where you can just relax the rest of the day and have one last swim in the Indian Ocean and perhaps do some shopping for family and friends back home.

Day 13: It’s never a goodbye

Today is your last day in this beautiful little island. At an arranged time, you will be taken to the airport for your flight back home.
